Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka episodes 1 & 2

SUMMARY

  •  Ahsoka's soundtrack, composed by Kevin Kiner, hints at a major reveal about Sabine Wren and her role in the show.
  •  Kiner expertly blends classic Star Wars themes with new sounds to create a familiar yet fresh sound for the series.
  •  The recurring use of "Sabine's Theme" and its past incorporation of John Williams' "Force Theme" suggests Sabine may become the second Mandalorian Jedi in Star Wars.

Ahsoka's soundtrack may be teasing a major reveal regarding Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). Ahsoka serves as the first live-action soundtrack from composer Kevin Kiner who's written the music for all of Star Wars' canonical animated series. Because this new Ahsoka show is in many ways a continuation of the animated series Star Wars Rebels, it's rather fitting that showrunner Dave Filoni chose to continue collaborating with Kiner. As such, Kiner's use of a classic theme may be a big clue for Sabine and her ongoing role in the show.

Creating an all-new soundtrack for Ahsoka, Kiner impressively creates a new sound for the Star Wars show while also incorporating past themes, expertly blending the classic motifs from original Star Wars composer John Williams to make the galaxy sound and feel as familiar on television as it always has on the big screen. To that end, a repeated theme may be foreshadowing the future of Mandalorian Sabine Wren and her relationship with the titular Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson).

Kevin Kiner's Sabine Theme Confirms She's The Second Mandalorian Jedi

Ahsoka Sabine Transformation

In both Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2, a new rendition of "Sabine's Theme" from Star Wars Rebels season 3 is heard on more than one occasion, featuring the classic four-note melody that has since become synonymous with the Mandalorian warrior and artist. However, the truly intriguing part of "Sabine's Theme" is that Kiner's track also blended this new melody with John William's iconic "Force Theme" also known as "Binary Sunset". As such, there are some intriguing implications now that "Sabine's Theme" has been used once again in Ahsoka.

A recurring Star Wars motif pointing to the Jedi, "The Force Theme" can be heard within "Sabine's Theme" specifically in Star Wars Rebels when Sabine was trained by Jedi survivor Kanan Jarrus to wield a lightsaber. It's also heard when Wren later refuses to kill Mandalore's Imperial ruler Gar Saxon after defeating him in combat, choosing instead to forge her own path beyond the way of the Mandalorian which eventually led to being trained by Ahsoka as her Jedi apprentice. As such, "Sabine's Theme" in Ahsoka is a strong indication that Sabine will indeed become Star Wars' second Mandalorian Jedi after Tarre Vizsla, creator of the Darksaber.
