You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah is slowly becoming one of Adam Sandler's most highly praised movies.
After several projects being heavily slammed by critics despite their good performance on Netflix, it seems like Adam Sandler has finally delivered a highly acclaimed comedy with the streaming platform.
The actor, writer, producer and comedian has been developing original stories for the company for a long time now, and while his less comedy-based movies have managed to get positive comments, most of the films he has premiered with Netflix have been criticized for poor story-telling or for being too basic. However, his latest film is being very well-received, giving him his biggest critical hit during his Netflix run.
When first reviews came out, critics were already saying that You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah was one of Sandler's best with Netflix, and its Rotten Tomatoes score confirms it. On the popular website the movie is currently certified fresh with 95%, surpassing Hustle which has a 93%, becoming his highest rated movie produced for the streaming platform so far.
You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah follows the story of two young girls that have been friends forever, and been dreaming of celebrating an amazing Bat Mitzvah. But when the moment arrives, a popular boy and their parties will get in the way of their friendship, starting a ruthless and fun competition between the two girls, dragging the rest of their friends and their families.
On Saturday, The Price Is Right host Bob Barker sadly passed away at the age of 99-years-old. Among the many celebrities that remembered the host was Sandler, since Barker joined the actor in one of his first movie projects back in 1996, Happy Gilmore.
The movie follows a former hockey player with rage-handling problems that needs to help his grandmother to pay a debt of 27000 dollars. In order to do so, he signs in to participate in a golf competition, realizing he has great skills for that sport, although his attitude is not the best to be part of such an exclusive world. In the film, Barker and Sandler get into a fight, but the relationship between both stars has been nothing like in the movie.
On his Instagram page Sandler shared a series of pictures of him with Baker, accompanied by some emotional words to remember his co-star:
"The man. The myth. The best. Such a sweet funny guy to hang out with. Loved talking to him. Loved laughing with him. Loved him kicking the crap out of me. He will be missed by everyone I know! Heartbreaking day. Love to Bob always and his family! Thanks for all you gave us!"
Happy Gilmore was Sandler's third film as the main star and writer, but it was the one that helped him become a big name within Hollywood, along with Billy Madison, both titles being later combined to create the name of his production company Happy Madison.
